Five days after Greek police murdered 15-year-old anarchist Alexandros Grigoropoulos, riots continued all over Greece today, including in front of a courthouse where the police accused of killing the boy were giving testimony (source). Adding to the melee, a massive general strike (planned long before the current uprising began) took place, with 10,000 workers marching on the Greek parliament in Athens (source).
Reports have been emerging from Greece over the past 24 hours that fascists have been fighting alongside police in the city of Patras (source), and that plainsclothes policemen have been dressing up as protestors and committing "vandalisms in non-political fashion in order to defame the uprising" (source). As always, don't trust the mainstream media, and don't trust the Greek socialist party which is trying to co-opt the resistance to gain power for itself.
Meanwhile, worldwide solidarity with the Greek uprising is expanding, with protestors invading the Greek embassy in Paris yesterday. Also, a solidarity march is planned in Olympia, WA, USA on Thursday, December 11th. The San Francisco-based Friendly Fire Collective, meanwhile, has released a poster (pictured at right) urging North American anarchists to take part in direct action in solidarity with the all of the Greek anarchists who have been fighting in the streets over the past few days. In a similar vein, the webmasters of Social Rupture have refused to continue posting until they see "at least ten clandestine actions dedicated to Greek anarchists," reminding their readers that "The targets are everywhere. We know you have it in you."
