"The Port Liberation Front (PLF) would like to encourage people to attend both rallies that Port Militarization Resistance (PMR) has called for.
Friday May 8th, 4:30pm – 7:00pm at the Tacoma Federal Courthouse
Friday May 8th, 8:00pm on the corner of 54th Ave. and Pacific Highway in Fife (in front of the Poodle Dog Restaurant).
The first is Friday May 8th from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the Tacoma Federal Courthouse in downtown Tacoma. Bring your friends and families, signs, banners, noise makers, instruments and whatever else seems appropriate to this event. There will be a host of speakers from around the Puget Sound to address a plethora of issues. It sounds like the purpose of this rally is to let the public know the purpose of port militarization resistance efforts, and the true nature of the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The second gathering, or convergence if you will, will also be on Friday at 8:00pm on the corner of 54th Ave. and Pacific Highway in Fife (in front of the Poodle Dog Restaurant). It’s just off Exit 137 where a number of blockades went up this past week to block the military shipments. Although the reasons are unclear to the PLF, we feel that the purpose of gathering at this location is its proximity to the Port of Tacoma – many of the convoys have taken this route down to the port.
But please be warned, the Tacoma Police in particular and the police in general are violent in nature. The PLF would like to encourage people to take precautions and prepare themselves should the police act violently as they have done in past port demonstrations and on a daily basis.
Friends and comrades, the PLF implores you to attend these gatherings. They come on the heels of a horrendous air strike in Farah Province, Afghanistan where the US military killed over 100 civilians. Over 100 people that now only exist in the memories of others, in the faded photographs of days slightly better, and the tears that water the rubble of the bombed homes and the parched gravel path to the cemetery.
How many more Guernicas must the Afghanis endure?
How many more My Lais will this Stryker Brigade create?
The ship is not in yet. The Brigade has not left. There is still time, friends. See you this Friday.
-in love and rage,
Marion Delgado,
Port Liberation Front"
