German Army Garage Firebombed; 3 Million Euros Damage

"On the morning of Easter Monday, unknown individuals set a fire at the school of the army of the Bundeswehr, torching several vehicles and causing at least 3 million euros property damage.

The fire broke out in at least 3 locations at about 03:00, according to spokeswoman LKA Silvaine Reiche. Thirty cars, buses and trucks as well as a hanger were destroyed. Burning tires caused a large column of smoke above the town of Albert.

No one was hurt.

22 vehicles and 65 men from the fire brigades were on site to fight the fire.

"We also assume there were multiple offenders" said the spokeswoman. The motive is unclear, and the police are seeking witnesses.

Albert City dates to the 18th century, and was at one time the largest military installation in Germany. It was used by the Nazis and the Red army, and today trains 4000 "solaten"."
