Two Anarchists Arrested In Tyumen

"Today 29th of January in morning (local time) two active anarchists, Kender and Rustam were arrested in Tyumen and their homes were searched. At least one more house was searched as well. Currently they are arrested and interrogated, at this point they face charges according to statute 214 of Russian criminal codex (vandalism), which when carried with "a group of people" is a felony charge in the sense that may not be punished with a mere fine (there is no official division between misdemeanors and felonies in Russian legal practice).

Both Kender and Rustam are longstanding activists and members of Autonomous Action. Rustam might be familiar to many Polish anarchists, as he lived in squat Fabryka of Warsaw in summer of 2003.

Police leaked information that they do not plan to release them until next Monday. There is reason to believe that this is a rather serious charge, as Russian police tends to search homes only when they plan to press felony charges. Police has already violated their rights by refusing them access to a lawyer.

You may call or fax to Tyumen to ask how are our comrades doing. The following 2 numbers of x-UBOP (Administration of Fight against Organised Crime, currently in state of reorganisation) are both phones and faxes, but during the day only fax has worked:

+7 3452 31 37 54
+7 3452 79 38 41 (UBOP press service)

Following phones of UBOP is apparently working but busy all the time, in case you do not have a fax try it:
+7 3452 31 35 75
+7 3452 25 02 02

Also try to call to

+7 3452 31 25 88

it is number of "Center of counteraction to extremism in Tyumen region", apparently that is the place where our comrades are held.
