Anarchists Clash With Police Outside Greek Ministry Of Employment

"The clashes erupted after a peaceful demonstration outside the Ministry of Employment. Thousands of people joined the protest, calling for an investigation into the assault against a Bulgarian immigrant.

After the demonstration a group of anarchists started throwing stones and bottles of inflammable mixture at the police officers. No injured or detained people were reported.

The Bulgarian immigrant Kostadina Kuneva was assaulted with acid in December 2008. She suffers very serious burns. The attackers have not been identified. A series of NGOs in Greece say the woman was hurt because she was a trade unionist and fought against the common practice of informal payments, exploitation and lack of labor guarantees."
