"In the last three months, anarchists and other anti-capitalists have seen a historic financial meltdown take place before our very eyes. Spreading from a national to international phenomenon, the instability of the US housing market has infected the very foundations of global capitalism.
In the midst of these historic events, "capitalism" has reentered public dialogue in a way that hasn't happened since the early days of the anti-globalization movement. for obvious reasons, this presents a great opportunity for anarchists. When Wall St. started scrambling in late September, we got to work: anarchists around the country immediately began publishing propaganda, protesting the financial bailout and housing foreclosures, and staging creative media manipulation like the massive cross-country newspaper wrap which happened earlier this month.
In light of these actions, we are calling for brief submissions about recent responses' to the economic crisis in your local area, to be used in an extensive article on the subject in the next Rolling Thunder magazine. They should be no more than 3 paragaphs long, and should highlight the kinds of actions locals have taken. What are some consistent themes of discussion or propaganda that have emerged? Have these actions been effective? Also, what are some ways that the crisis has generally affected the place you live?
In addition to presenting tactical and strategic ideas on responses to the crisis, this article will have background information on how the economic meltdown came to be and how and why the bailout isn't working. Depending on our publishing capabilities and the number of submissions received, we may also publish this article in a longer zine format.
All submissions can be sent to nocompromise_105@hotmail.com , and should be received by no later than November 25th.
With much love and rage,
a joint production of the Center for Strategic Anarchy (CSA) and Determined Anti-capitalist People Invested in Severe Solutions for Economic Disasters (DAPISSED)"
